Introduction:

The Pulse Instruments PI-31001 PI-Bus Interface Card is a replacement for the 4001 Control Mainframe.

It is designed to drive the 4000 Series' PI-Bus from the CompactPCI mainframe. The included PI-Controller control software controls 4000 Series commands to be sent over the PI-Bus via the PI-31001. The PI-Bus Interface Card maintains the Optical isolation between the control unit and the instrument mainframe as in the PI-4001.  This prevents the transfer of digital noise from the CompactPCI chassis to the instrument mainframes. The PI-31001 can control up to seven PI-4002 Instrument Mainframes over a maximum cable length of 20 feet.  The PI-Bus connector is for the shielded ribbon cable as used on the 40090-A-X interconnect cable.
